Overview

FileShare is a fantastic feature that allows you to share files with anyone, even if they are not FilesAnywhere users.

 

FilesAnywhere makes sharing files fast and hassle-free!  Simply provide the email addresses of the people you would like to share files with, and a list of files.  An email will be sent containing a simple link, which recipients will click to download the files you are sharing.

 

How Your Files Are Shared

You first select the files or folders you would like to share, then you enter the email addresses of your chosen recipients.  Recipients will receive an email that contains a link. Clicking on the link opens a screen where they can download your shared files and navigate any individual folders you have shared. Recipients will not be able to view your other account files.

Steps to Use

There are several different ways to choose the files you want to share. The easiest way is to right-click on the file or folder you want to share. A complete example is below:

What Recipients See

When recipients click on the link in the email, a download page opens. From this download page, they can download individual files, or navigate folders you have shared. Here is an example of a simple file share:

 

 

If you chose the "Share as MediaFolder" option, your recipients will see a thumbnail view of the shared files, with the options to view a slideshow, download the images, or browse a full-size view of the images:

 

 

 

Link Expiration

The shared link will expire according to the chosen option when creating the share. Links can be maintained for a maximum of 1 year. Downloaded files via the File Share link are limited each day, based on the size of your plan. For example, a 1GB plan supports 200 downloads per day.

Managing Existing links

If you have successfully created a FileShare link, you may need to resend, edit properties, or remove the link.  You may accomplish all of these features by going to all of your Active FileShare Links page.

 

To access the page:

  1. click on the 'Advanced Icon' from the Tool Bar.

  2. click on the FileShare Email Links option from the Advanced Options list

 

From here you are able to Edit the active link, Remove any active links, or Generate a link for any active links.
