What are Webfolders?

Using WebFolder on FilesAnywhere:

FilesAnywhere is a popular online file storage service. Files can be stored and accessed using the web, from any PC or MAC with Internet access. As a Private Site customer, your organization has its own FilesAnywhere portal site and accounts where files can be stored.

FilesAnywhere WebFolders allows you to map a drive letter to your own account file space or your company's common file space on FilesAnywhere. This is an easy way to directly access online files without the need to use the web browser interface.  WebFolders allow you to treat your FilesAnywhere account like a regular folder on Windows Explorer similar to My Documents on a PC.

Collaborating WebFolders and FilesAnywhere allows you to drag/drop, cut-n-paste files between your PC or Mac and your FilesAnywhere account, and directly edit files on your FilesAnywhere account from your Desktop!

Benefits of WebFolder

Once connected to your FilesAnywhere WebFolder, you can copy and paste, drag and drop, rename, move, and do everything with files and folders using the built-in functions in the Microsoft Windows Explorer that you do with your local drives.

This means you can also use your favorite applications to read/write files as you do everyday with other local or network file locations. The difference is that WebFolders provides a central location for your files, and they can be accessed anywhere using any PC with Internet access within a secure SSL (Secure Socket Layer) environment.

WebFolders also include a built in Version Control that permits only a single file to be used for editing at a time; all other users accessing the file will be able to utilize a 'Read-Only' version of the file until the file is made available by the current user.
